Singer, composer, producer John Edmund Andrew Phillips was known as the leader of the vocal group the Mamas & the Papas and is frequently referred to as Papa John Phillips. After the band dissolved, he worked with such musical acts as The Beatles, The Rolling Stones and The Beach Boys
