Bassam Mohammed Al-Thawadi (born December 13, 1960) is a Bahraini film director. Known for producing Bahrain's first feature film The Barrier in 1990. He is considered a regional pioneer in filmmaking and one of the founding members of the Gulf Cooperation Council Cinema Association. He is also the founder and general director of the first Arab Film Festival in Bahrain. He directed many short films as well as commercials and educational and cultural programs during his work at the Bahrain Radio and Television Corporation, as well as performing several plays. Al-Thawadi was president of the Dhat Al-Sawari Video Festival in 1994 and a member of the jury at the Baghdad International Television and Film Festival in 1988. He organized the New Egyptian Cinema Days festival in Bahrain in 1993 and was director of the Fifth Arab Music Festival in 1996.
