个性叛逆的新兵高等入伍后,因不适应部队生活而被分到了位于深山中的修理班,邂逅了身怀绝技的老兵林峰.两人从针锋相对到惺惺相惜,逐渐成为了一对好战友.为了保证边境人民生命财产的安全,部队组织扫雷队清扫残留雷场,两人一起下山为扫雷出力,做出了巨大贡献.随后,二人又加入了勘界扫雷保障小组,率领战友们打通了勘界通道,扫除了新立界碑点周围的雷场,圆满完成了勘界立碑的重要任务.在排雷过程中,林峰为救边境儿童不幸牺牲.高等继承其遗志,刻苦训练,努力工作,成为了一名优秀维和士兵,用汗水和血水谱写了一曲当代中国军人的英雄赞歌.
