During the Cuban Missile Crisis, four Soviet Foxtrot class submarines tried to run the blockade on Cuba. As the US navy hunted them, the diesel powered submarines were forced to stay submerged. In the hot waters of the Caribbean, conditions onboard soon became unbearable.
