鎌田敏夫脚本、明石家さんま＆大竹しのぶ共演による恋愛ドラマの傑作「男女7人夏物語」の続編。「人とふれあうことの難しさ」をテーマに、大都会・東京で少々遅い青春を懸命に生きていこうとしている男女の姿を描く。前作からの明石家さんま、大竹しのぶ、片岡鶴太郎の3人に加えて、岩崎宏美、手塚理美、山下真司、岡安由美子ら4人の新メンバーが出演。さらに桃子の新恋人・横山役の柳葉敏郎も登場する。夏の初めに出会った男女7人が、夏の終わりに、結ばれたり別れたり…という前作から、季節は夏を過ぎて秋に。前作のストーリーを引き継ぎながら、新しい愛の物語が展開していく。
