Prior to entering the British Army, Captain Crewe makes sure his daughter, Sara, is well cared for in a London Boarding School. However, when bad news finds Captain Crewe back in India, his life takes a turn for the worse.
As Sara becomes acquainted with her new school, her father's fever worsens back in India, and his regret deepens. During Sara's luxurious birthday party, she receives bad tidings that alters the course of her life forever.
