Director Jennifer Lim's documentary follows successful TV actor and adult adoptee Scott Fishman (of the hit drama "Cops & Bottoms") as he begins his search for his birth parents. We meet his girlfriend Lisa, their therapist Bob and Scott's charming co-star Noah Wyle as well.
Still reeling from information revealed by his search intermediary, Scott has an existential crisis and wants to call off the documentary and search. Can Noah or Lisa or Jennifer pull him out of the wormhole he is tumbling down?
Scott fills in for Noah at a parade in Wheat Hills, North Dakota. Afterwards, he and Lisa meet his search intermediary Mary Elizabeths and her son Leland in nearby Grand Forks and their confidence in her is shaken. On the flight home a confrontation between Lisa and Scott leads to a big decision about their relationship.
Scott gets some disappointing news from Mary Elizabeths which he then shares in a video chat with his mother Lois and her cat Natasha. After explaining what it was like to grow up as an adoptee Scott hears more news from his intermediary that changes everything.
Scott shares some of what he's learned with Lisa & their therapist Bob. Noah tries to talk Scott out of making a big step forward in his search process ... advice that Scott ignores with unexpected results.
In the season finale, a party at Scott and Lisa's house sets off a chain of events that forces Scott to ask himself some hard questions about who he is and where the best place is for him to find that out.
