مسلسل تراثي يوضح شكل الحياة في المجتمع الكويتي قبل النفط والكهرباء، من خلال قصة أب بخيل يرفض إعطاء ابنه (سلطان) الذي يشترك معه في التجارة أجره كاملًا ؛ مما تسبب في تأخير زواج ابنه ، وثورته على الوضع ، ومحاولته الاستقلال بنفسه عن أبيه ، وتتوالى الأحداث أيضًا في خطوط درامية أخرى ، في شخصيات أسرة الشاب مثل : عمه الطيب الذي يتزوج امرأة تتحكم فيه ، واللص الذي يخرج من السجن ولا يجد وظيفة ، وغيرهم .
