After twenty years wandering as a mercenary, Beowulf returns home to Herot to pay his respects to the man who raised him: Hrothgar, the recently deceased Thane. However, his gesture of goodwill opens old wounds: Beowulf is met with cold steel leaving him no choice but to fight his way into the Great Hall to be heard by the new Thane Rheda, wife of Hrothgar, whose appointment has caused controversy within Herot and afar.
With its defences fast fading, Herot falls under attack by the terrifying monster Grendl and when Rheda’s loyal servant is killed, Beowulf vows to remain until the enemy is routed out, justice is served and Herot is safe once more. It’s a race against time for Beowulf as he seeks to protect the town and catch the killer, be it human or beast…
Suite à la mort de son père, Beowulf, un jeune garçon est recueilli par Hrothgar, Baron de Herot, qui le forme à l'art de la guerre avec son fils, Slean. Vingt ans plus tard, Beowulf apprend que Hrothgar est souffrant. Lorsqu'il arrive à son chevet, Hrothgar est mort mais il a choisi son épouse, Rheda, pour lui succéder. Slean, déjà frustré de ne pas avoir succédé à son père, entre dans une rage folle lorsqu'il voit arriver Beowulf. Suite à l'ultime festin qui célèbre Hrothgar, Bayen, l'homme lige et magistrat du Baron est assassiné. Beowulf voit une bête s'échapper mais étant surpris par les Huskarla, il est accusé du meurtre de Bayen...
Beowulf regresa a su tierra natal en Herot, con el fin de despedir al difunto rey Hrothgar. Pero las envidias del pasado provocan que tanto la mujer del fallecido rey, Rheda, como su hijo Slean no lo reciban con los brazos abiertos.
