ON THE USE OF PLIERS: this is likely not historically accurate, though I haven’t yet come across evidence for the more historical method of crimping the aglets. I can only hypothesise that it might have been done with a mallet, though I sadly didn’t have one available. (Do feel free to chime in if you’ve found something!)

W&N paints are water soluble and so can be re-wetted and used again once dried, while most others dry into plastic and cannot be reused. This also means that the paint behaves differently on the paper during use: water soluble paints should be able to be reworked after drying, but the cheaper qualities can’t do that. This is not intended as an educational dressing video, but is simply meant to showcase the garments I constructed specifically for the c. 1895 Lady Sherlock project. Shoes, stockings, collar, petticoat, and blouse are modern reproductions; the latter two are not close historical reproductions.
