Shunji Iwai is a fascinating director. His work explores humanity, the wonderful good, the terrifying bad and everything in between, through a series of stunningly captured moments - moments that Iwai allows to breathe in leisurely extended scenes. In this video I explore his filmography through those moments, and dive into one of his most underappreciated gems: the animated masterpiece that is The Case of Hana & Alice. This video is a response to Joe Yang's Anitube November Challenge, in which the community was tasked with shining a spotlight on an underrepresented anime on the YouTube platform.
