A parolee tells a story to his parole officer about his childhood. Twelve year old Sam Walker moves to a small town in the Ozarks with his family after his father is reassigned to a new sheriff's department. Something screams on the mountain there, but his friends won't tell him what or who. A family friend goes missing.
