The five contestants for the week, all from the Niagara area, are: Karen Bishop, a self-professed cougar who doesn't like to be called grandma even though she is one; correctional officer Judy Marlow, a divorcée who is looking for who will truly be her Mr. Right forever; entrepreneur George Mcpherson, a guy's guy who doesn't really care about people let alone four strangers with who he's spending the week; seamster Domenic Pisano, who gets gas by almost everything in life, especially those things that stress him out; and innkeeper Maria Toye, whose friends consider her a little too wild. Karen Bishop is the first to host the dinner party. Her menu consists of Rainbow Bridge salad and honeymoon canapés as the appetizer, beef Burgundy as the main course, and raspberry casino clafouti and Maid of the Misty chocolate mousse for dessert. Despite many of her guests believing the Niagara theme of the menu a bit cheesy, they are at least expecting that many of the ingredients, such as apples, are indeed local. Karen ends up having a few kitchen mishaps, which are in part evidenced by the smoke detector going off more than once during the day. The three women end up bonding, which may scare off the two men, who are the collective cougars' targets, despite most having thought that married Domenic was gay. The party ends with Karen's personal version of pin the tail on the donkey.
