This is my first Youtube video, but I've had an obsession with multi-level-marketing companies for a while and their business methods and recruitment practices. I've been wondering why MLM's have not been regulated more harshly which is why I began researching the history of mlm's, eventually coming across a company I was already somewhat familiar with- Amway. Amway and the Devos family have strategically involved themselves in politics and have quite a hold on the American government, which seems to be a reason why MLMs continue to thrive with very little regulation. If you're as interested in MLMs as I am, this may be a fascinating watch for you! I go over Amway's history, their business model, my personal story with Amway recruiters and their involvement in politics, culture and religion.
Today I wanted to talk about something that blows my mind- goop and it's business model. I wanted to talk about all the problems with Gwyneth Paltrow's company goop and how they may use fear mongering tactics to spread misinformation in order to sell their extremely expensive and overpriced products. Funny enough I filmed this before the Netflix "documentary..?" trailer came out featuring the infamous Gwyneth Paltrow herself, but I've had a bone to pick with goop for quite some time. As a health and wellness nerd myself, I feel goop and companies like it with "high-end" health products perpetuate the idea that health products are only for the wealthy and elite who can afford it. I also think much of what goop sells on it's website have health claims with no scientific basis or backing, which can only do damage for the "clean"/"wellness" movement. Articles featured on the goop blog allude to a lifestyle in favor of alternative medicine, spreading distrust in science and medicine in an effort for goop to gain consumer's trust, and in turn... their wallets. This is my opinion of course, but I wanted to point out in today's video all the problems with goop and why it's a company doing more harm than good to the wellness community.

Hate will only bring out more hate, and hating on KM is not worth our time and energy.

There's a pandemic that's affecting the world and causing mass panic- some people, like our medical professionals, are stepping up to help others selflessly. Others, however, are exploiting this pandemic for their own personal gain. In my opinion, it's disgusting, and needs to be talked about. First I talk about MLM distributors who make wild claims about their mlm products helping cure/prevent coronavirus (mainly examples used are from Young Living and doTERRA, two essential oil mlm companies). Then I talk about other scammers who have said their product cures corona, such as Kenneth Copeland attempting to "cure" people of the virus through his televangelist powers that apparently can transport through tv screens, Jim Bakker who sold a "silver solution" and claimed that it would cure all viruses and went on to say some of the most outright outrageous claims I've ever heard, and Alex Jones who claimed his products, particularly his toothpaste, would cure COVID-19. Apart from people who have made outrageous product claims, some other ways people are exploiting the pandemic is through hoarding needed products and supplies. Lastly I discuss the immoral way MLM reps are attempting to recruit people into their downlines by using the fear of this pandemic against them. Monat recently announced their "pivot to producing hand sanitizers" and have regarded this move as a "charity" and claimed they are "giving back"... The "giving" nature of the charity is debunked when taking a closer look at the numbers. So, in this video I talk about how this charity may be more exploitative than helpful and may even be a charity scam.
This topic is one very close to my heart, as a military spouse myself. Military spouses know, multi level marketing companies have had a giant presence in the military spouse community for quite some time. Today I want to talk about why this happens, and how we can come together to help stop the spread of misinformation and "scammy" mlm practices within the military spouse community. I discuss some of the data discovered by the Department of Defense on the many challenges of military spouses- the social and physical isolation, lack of jobs and extremely high unemployment rate, and challenges with childcare. All of these factors are believed to contribute to the spread of MLMs in the military spouse communities and on military bases.

MLM scammers have gotten even worse during the pandemic... despite the recent FTC crackdown mlm "hunbots" have been pushing their "business opportunity" relentlessly and in unethical ways. They've encouraged people to spend their stimulus check money on purchasing mlm products, and have targeted vulnerable people who are out of work claiming this is a great opportunity for them to make "full time income" while stuck at home. The actions of those within MLMs during this time have been appalling and those who are targeting vulnerable people and trying to scam them need to be held accountable.
After posting my video on Tyra Banks' MLM makeup line, a lot of you requested a follow-up video on some other shady things Tyra Banks has done. Lately there's been some controversy over problematic clips that have resurfaced from ANTM, but I wanted to share even more information I've been collecting over the past few weeks. After diving into more research, I uncovered some problematic things Tyra has done and is currently doing that showcase her hypocrisies and desperate attempts to boost her businesses, and make a profit at the expense of the young women who look up to her and who she claims she "empowers". Now, this may sound harsh but with Tyra's extensive track record I showcase in this video it's coming from a place of quality research, evidence and "receipts".
Unfortunately we have lost another to a MLM, but this scenario is a little more serious than that. In this video I want to examine Alexa Villa's relationship with Young Living and how she promotes them. Mainly I want to look at some of the suspicious claims made by her that may perpetuate misinformation as well as the strange lack of disclosure on the specific nature of her business relationship with Young Living. Reality is, Alexa Vega has a large following and she is encouraging her followers to join a company notorious for it's predatory recruitment practices and the dangerous and wild claims made by it's reps. Alexa Vega is also clearly being sponsored by Young Living, but giving the illusion that her and her husband are simply Young Living reps themselves with no bias towards the company. This illusion is misinforming their followers and possibly encouraging them to sign up for YL under false pretenses. At the end of the day, with great influence comes great responsibility, and those who actively mislead their followers should be held accountable for it (in my opinion)...
The prison industrial complex (PIC) is a system used to exploit prison workers for cheap labor with no benefits, while entrapping prisoners into a system in which they are unable to rise up and create a better life for themselves. Because of the forced free labor, lack of benefits, and horrible system that keeps prisoners down I can't help but ask is prison labor and the PIC modern day slavery? You will be SHOCKED at how many companies use prison labor, and how it's kept alive through lobbying and funneling money to American politicians. In this video I cover as much as I can regarding the prison industrial complex, what is keeping it alive, and how it's driving mass incarceration far beyond any other country.
MLM reps have been posting some ridiculous stuff lately, exposing how tone deaf they really are... in this video I analyzed some of the recent posts and reactions from "mlm huns" and examined how being a part of a mlm may contribute to ignorance or "tone deafness". Some of these posts may be comical but the underlying tone is fairly disturbing, portraying a much larger issue of willful ignorance and misinterpretation of current events. I firmly believe accountability is essential for any social media poster, but most importantly mlm reps and their posts because they are conducting their "business" online, aka, as they so commonly claim; "Facebook is their workplace". They not only attempt to manipulate their friends, family, and following into joining their "downline" and spending money on their mlm with the promise of financial prosperity, but they also spread ideology on the exact same platform that they do so, so if this ideology is hateful, I personally see this as a form of workplace discrimination/ harassment and think it's important to discuss it!
The Breakaway Movement is a bizarre Instagram Influencer "cult" seemingly designed to rope people into a pyramid scheme unknowingly. You start off in the breakaway movement thinking you're going to learn things about business and how to be an influencer, but slowly the truth is revealed, that to join this elusive club you have to pay $5,000 for a kangen water filter, and sell for Enagic, which is an mlm for over priced water filters... So in this video I examine how the break away movement gets away with this scheme and stays under the radar while continuing to draw in young aspiring influencers into their mlm.
With the recent news of Kylie and Kris Jenner lying and manipulating the public as well as Forbes into believing Kylie was a billionaire (when she wasn't) I was reminded of the countless times the Kardashian/Jenner family lied, manipulated and allegedly* scammed the public. In this video I analyze most of the Kardashians' "infamous scams"... I look at alleged scams the Kardashians have all participated in, such as Kardashian Beauty (a failed makeup line), the Kardashian Kard, weight loss product scams and Instagram giveaways. I also take a look at Kris Jenner and Legacy Business School, I analyze Kim Kardashians' many alleged scams, I look at Poosh by Kourtney Kardashian, the manipulative campaigns done by Kendall Jenner and lastly dive into the billionaire scandal regarding Kylie Jenner.

I wanted to know what safeguards are put in place to prevent the mistreatment of children in family channels and whether or not laws like Coogan laws were present on YouTube. What I ended up finding out is pretty upsetting... so, today I wanted to analyze family channels and the harsh reality of this "family friendly" (aka advertiser friendly) content on YouTube that may not be as harmless as everyone seems to think...
Jake Paul is one of the internet's favorite dumping grounds, mainly known for his over-the-top antics and dangerous behavior towards others part of his "Team 10" business. But today I wanted to dive into a topic that has always interested me about Jake Paul: his many failed business schemes. Jake Paul has started many alleged "get rich quick schemes" such as Team 10, Team Dom, Edfluence, Financial Freedom Movement, TGZ Capital and the list goes on... and within each business "scheme" there are professional investors and others involved that I wanted to look into today. Overall, I think Jake Paul is obsessed with becoming a "freebot" and is fascinated by get rich quick schemes, with a bizarre determination to make his own business concept become a reality.
In light of recent controversies I wanted to talk about something that has been on my mind for a while- the "beauty community", beauty influencers and how brands use beauty influncers to reach massive profits. It seems there is a lot of manipulation going on here, and a lot of encouragement of excessive consumerism. I think it has had detrimental effects on (mainly our bank accounts) and has turned a community once built around feeling confident and "playing with makeup" into an industry of drama, profits, and competition.
After posting a video covering the beauty industry, I wanted to do a follow up video discussing some problematic aspects of influencer brands. Unfortunately, influencer brands can be harmful, can take advantage of a vulnerable or caring audience, and can leverage an influencer's audience for financial gain. I wanted to have a conversation about when an influener brand goes too far, or uses shady tactics to sell a product and how we can identify when that is happening. With all the recent "beauty drama" and "controversy" I couldn't help but notice that the beauty gurus and influencers all seemed to have their own brands and collaborations that are somehow intertwined with the drama and controversies, and I wanted to examine whether or not that was an intentional thing, and whether or not influencers use drama to gain a favorable stance for their brand.

Forex MLMs are a scam that prevails successfully because of it's ambiguity & allure. This scam prevails through targeting young individuals and giving them the hope that they can get rich off of the stock market with very little effort and time on their part. This MLM is particularly interesting to me because instead of selling a tangible product, forex mlms sell courses and require all members to participate in a costly membership ($100-$200 per month!!) The hype surrounding forex mlms is bizarre and I wanted to analyze what forex mlms are and why they must be stopped.
