Während April ihre Ellis-Country-Anteile an Carter McKay verkauft, feiert J.R. die sichere Ankunft seines Tankers. Da taucht überraschend Vanessa Beaumonts Sohn James auf. Miss Ellie und Clayton suchen weiterhin Jocks Kriegskameraden. Eine Spur führt sie nach Montana.

J.R. and Beaumont have a pretty rough first conversation but then they begin to get along fine as James is introduced into Dallas' social life, and makes quite an impression in the process. James dates Kendall, the receptionist at Ewing Oil, and asks her about the company. Bobby is concerned as Christopher goes out on his first date. Carter McKay makes a business deal with April. Alex questions Cally about her European honeymoon and he tries to exploit Vanessa's presence in Austria to his advantage. Cally asks Alex about his personal life. April pressures Bobby on marriage. Miss Ellie and Clayton keep traveling in search of the object that would fit the mysterious key. Vanessa surprises J.R. and Cally by showing up at Southfork to "collect her son".

J.R. évoque Vanessa avec James. Ellie et Clayton arrivent à Pride et achètent la ville, presque abandonnée, pour y faire des recherches. Carter fait à April une offre pour l'achat des terrains d'Ellis County. J.R. s'agace des relations entre Cally et Alex Barton. Clayton et Ellie découvrent une carte miniature de la région de Kalispell, dans le Montana, dans une vieille horloge à coucou, à Pride. En s'y rendant, ils trouvent deux boites aux lettres aux noms de "Ewing" et "Mallory". Une limousine arrive à Southfork et Vanessa Beaumont en descend.
