労働基準監督署を舞台として、主人公の段田凛を始めとした労働基準監督官たちが、労働基準法、労働安全衛生法その他の同署の所管法令を適用してブラック企業などの労働法令の順守に欠ける企業を摘発し、日本の労働者を守っていくという物語である。 『ダンダリン一〇一』のタイトルは、主人公の段田凛から引用されたものであって、その奇態な氏名とテンポの良い発音リズムから興味をそそるものとなっている。
