Following last orders at The Rifleman's Arms, two local men made the short walk from the pub to one of their homes. In a seemingly unprovoked attack, both were bludgeoned to death with a coal pick, the house turned into a blood bath. The killer was never caught and 50 years later, the murder remains unsolved.
