The Adventure of Miss Aggie's Farewell Performance

Radio star Vera Bethune is poisoned during the taping of her show. She survives and asks Ellery from her hospital bed to look into things. Unfortunately for both Vera and Ellery, she is shot to death while in the hospital. Ellery and the Inspector are both guilt stricken over failing to protect Ms. Bethune and are determined to find her killer from among the usual numerous suspects. But radio mystery star Simon Brimmer is determined to beat both Queens to the solution in order to retain a sponsor to his radio program. A golden girl might have a hard time with this one.

La diva di Soap Opere radiofoniche, Vera Bethune - nota ai suoi fan come cara Miss Aggie, insegnante di scuola molto amata, viene avvelenata durante una registrazione. Sopravvive, e chiede ad Ellery, dal' ospedale,di indagare sul caso, ma in breve tempo Miss Aggie viene trovato uccisa. Sia Ellery Queen che l'ispettore si sentono responsabili per non essere riusciti a proteggerla. Indagheranno sulla moltitudine di sospetti che avrebbero voluto la sua morte, ma dovranno anche vedersela con Simon Brimmer, deciso a batterli per riconquistare il suo sponsor Vita-Cream. Questo episodio trova i Queens in una serie di situazioni interessanti: Ellery scopre gli effetti disastrosi della cucina con una pentola a pressione. L' ispettore Queen è a dieta, e preparargli un po 'a bordo'! Una delle migliori scene della serie, Ellery viene bloccato in un armadio,da un sospetto mentre prepara la valigia per la fuga,ma continua ad interrogarlo comunque attraverso la porta chiusa,come se nulla fosse!
