苏美金来自南洋，嫁给港人劳风云，只为改善家人生活，美金初抵香港万分彷徨，无意中更打昏了毫不相识的宋汉文，注册不日，风云日脏病发猝死。美金取香港身份证的美梦成空，美金得风云的租客帮忙，找到了工作，美金以为运气已转好，怎料却在工作 的酱油厂重遇冤家庞小玉，美金后重遇汉文，此时他虽患重病，二人的感情仍慢慢发展起来，一日，被公司辞退的汉文留下字条后便离开了美金，美金再次孤家寡人，小玉之子田建忠觊觎母亲家财，故意追求美金，欲与建邦及嫂李心怡利用美金害死母亲，美金搬进小玉的家，所谓“相见好，同住难”，更何况冤家同住！一般寄人篱下的人若受委屈，都会“打落牙齿和血吞”，美金却凡事据理力争，与小玉势成水火，一日，小玉突然暴毙，建忠力证美金是凶手，美金百辞莫辩……
