The Valdosta Wildcats dominated for nearly 90 years, producing recent Super Bowl champions like New England Patriot Malcolm Mitchell. This year, they've hired a tough new head coach to try and lead the team back to their first state championship in 18 years.
School’s started and it’s nearly time for kickoff. As coaches fight to balance football and academics, the Wildcats prepare for their crosstown rival. Down here, they call this nationally recgonized contest Winnersville Week and head coaches have been fired for losing less. A win here will be the Wildcats’ 900th, making them the first high school team to reach that historic number.
As the Wildcats hit the road and move deeper into their 10 game regular season, two QBs are hoping to be called upon as the team begins to sputter for the first time. Coach Rod’s decision threatens the delicate unity of Wildcat fans and reminds a former QB hopeful of his own experiences decades ago.
