Homicide investigators are convinced an apparent murder-suicide was staged but the experienced CSI on the scene disagrees; only the gut instincts of the cops, coupled with an outside forensic expert's opinion, convince authorities who the real killer is.
Als am 11. Dezember 2007 bei der Polizei von Quitman ein Notruf eingeht, sind die Ermittler überrascht. Mord ist in der kleinen Gemeinde selten. Am Tatort angekommen, schildert Familienvater Jason Payne, sein Stiefsohn Taylor habe erst seine Mutter Nicole und dann sich selbst umgebracht. Auf den ersten Blick spricht alles für erweiterten Suizid, doch die forensische Analyse der Tatwaffe lässt Zweifel daran aufkommen, dass der 16-Jährige die Tat wirklich begangen hat.
