On 10 December 1945, the most controversial soldier of the Second World War was riding through Germany in his jeep. On his way to a pheasant shoot near Mannheim, the great American General was involved in an automobile accident. After a week in hospital, he seemed to be on the road to recovery but suddenly died in his sleep.
