تتمحور السلسلة حول شامة، الشابة اليتيمة التي تجد نفسها مسؤولة عن بيتها ومحصولها بعد سفر والدها للحج. تتغير حياتها حين تُتهم ظلماً بالغش في السوق، فدافع عن نفسها أمام الحاكم بـ سرد حكاية بليغة كشفت الحقيقة. بسبب فطنتها، يعينها شيخ القبائل راوية في مجلسه، مما يثير غيرة مساعده جعفر، الذي يبدأ بحياكة المؤامرات لتشويه صورتها، لتخوض شامة صراعاً تارة بالذكاء وتارة بقوة الحكاية لمواجهة قسوة الواقع.
