Huck Is A Hero

Toms Schulklasse macht einen Ausflug zu einer Mississippi-Insel, auf der sich eine weitverzweigte Höhle befindet. In der Höhle setzt er sich mit Becky von den anderen ab und verläuft sich in dem unterirdischen Labyrinth. Die Schulklasse fährt ohne sie über den Mississippi zurück. Tom sucht verzweifelt nach dem Höhlenausgang. Huck versucht inzweischen, Indianer-Joe aufzuspüren. Zufällig trifft er abends auf ihn, als Joe und sein Freund Pard die Witwe Douglas überfallen wollen. Huck holt Hilfe, aber die Banditen können fliehen.

(teleplay by Alf Harris; directed by Don S. Williams) As part of his classes school field trip Tom is preparing for a trip to a cave on a nearby island. He tries to include Huck in the trip but is informed that only school children are permitted. Huck tells Tom that he would rather stay anyhow and attempt to track down Indian Joe. Tom views the trip as his chance to make up with Becky Thatcher but the pair soon get lost when they stray from their fellow classmates in the cave. It is only when they are back in Petersburg that the townspeople realise the two pupils are missing. Constable Moeller starts a search party. Huck meanwhile stumbles across Indian Joe that evening, as Joe and Pard are about to embark on their revenge mission, burgling the Widow Douglas whose late husband once ignored Joe's pleas for help and shelter. Huck gets assistance from Old Man Lloyd, but the bandits escape.
