After his daughter, Lucy, witnesses a knife attack at her school, Stuart and his wife Alison try to enrol her at St Mary's - but it's Catholic and they are atheist. Lucy loves the school and tells her parents that she is prepared to be baptised to get in. Stuart discovers that they need a reference and contacts Ed who refers him to Father Thomas who will verify their story for 4,000 pounds. Then Father Thomas is found dead in his church. Blackmail ensues and the situation spirals out of control.
