人は亡くなると、『黄泉の食堂』へと導かれます。そこには、孟婆(もうば)と呼ばれる料理人がおり、死者は“人生で最も忘れられない料理”を注文します。人生は十六夜のように、不完全。後悔や未練はつきものです。孟婆は、その一皿で死者を癒し、後悔や未練、しがらみから解放し、彼らを来世へ旅立たせます。これは、どこか欠けた不完全な人生を、最後に料理で満たす物語。
