So you may remember in my DS1 LP, I chose not to play online even after the differences were explained to me. Personally, I wish I were playing offline here as well. I don't want tons of messages indicating every trap and secret. Like, at all. I don't want to summon help to kill bosses, as happens in the next episode. Admittedly, playing coop with other people was very fun for me, but the boss fight was also very easy. I think the game will be more challenging, and the series more interesting, without help.

I vented a bit in this video about how melee combat is less fun, but I don't think I explained well. In DS1 each input was like a fight for position. You tried to get your character to the weak points of the enemy by pivoting or rolling or baiting; or you faced them directly and parried. Here, the enemy pivots like they're on a top, so positioning is out; they're always facing you. Their attacks change direction mid-swing, so even rolling through most attacks doesn't give you positioning. And the parry window is much reduced, and partial parries seem practically non-existant. So the strategy becomes step forward, bait, step back, swing. Repeat. And when you do manage to get positioning behind them, sometimes it locks you into a backstab animation that misses anyway. :)
