Das Gericht spricht Gary von der Mordanklage frei. Abby empfängt ihn mit heftigen Vorwürfen. Auch Val ist wütend. Sie erfährt, dass Ben Reporter ist. Diana und Chip hinterlassen indessen eine erste Spur. Aus dem Fernsehen erfährt Diana, dass Chip gesucht wird.
Val runs into her "mystery man" Ben Gibson while jogging on the beach. He admits he doesn't jog, and was just doing it to meet her. They go to dinner, but Val leaves when she learns he's a reporter. Gary buys a ranch and tells Abby he wants her to move there with him. She's mortified. Mac has the FBI help find Diana and Chip. On the road, Diana pays for gas with her credit card. At a motel, she sees a news story about Chip and is unnerved. Chip starts to cry and tells Diana that he slept with Ciji before he met her. He says Ciji was going to tell Diana she was pregnant to break them up. Chip said he was scared he would lose her, so he and Ciji got into an argument and that he hit her, but didn't mean to kill her. He claims it was an accident, but that he did it so he and Diana could be together.
Val tombe sur son "homme mystérieux", Ben Gibson, pendant qu'elle fait son jogging sur la plage. Il lui avoue qu'il ne faisait pas son jogging mais qu'il voulait juste la rencontrer. Ils vont diner mais Val le laisse quand elle apprend qu'il est journaliste. Gary, impatient de commencer une nouvelle vie, décide d'acheter le ranch que Laura lui avait montré l'année dernière et dit à Abby qu'il veut qu'elle y emménage avec lui. Abby est mortifiée. Mack fait appel au F.B.I. pour trouver Diana et Chip. Ce dernier est maintenant le principal suspect dans le meurtre de Ciji mais Diana ne sait pas qu'il lui a suggéré de partir afin qu'il puisse échapper à la police. Sur la route, Diana paye le plein d'essence avec sa carte de crédit. A un motel, elle voit un flash d'information sur Chip et est déroutée et essaye d'appeler la maison. Le lendemain, Chip se met à pleurer et dit à Diana qu'il a dormi avec Ciji avant de de l'avoir rencontrée. Il rajoute que Ciji allait dire à Diana qu'elle était enceinte pour qu'ils rompent. Chip dit qu'il était effrayé de la perdre aussi ils ont eu une dispute et il la frappa mais il ne voulait pas la tuer. Il prétend que c'était un accident mais qu'il l'a fait pour que Diana et lui puissent être ensemble.
