Val und Gary ärgern sich, weil sie Karen zur Scheidung geraten haben. Sie möchten alles rückgängig machen. Aber Karen hat Mack bereits die Scheidungspapiere zustellen lassen. Josh hat Gewissensbisse wegen der Liebesnacht mit Cathy.
Mac is served with divorce papers. Karen says she wants to explain but she will need time. Mac finds out that Gary Loader has been killed. Val and Gary feel responsible for the MacKenzies' divorce. Abby and Scott Easton watch them talking from her office. Joshua's father, Jonathan, comes to Knots Landing determined to bring Joshua home with him. Joshua tells Cathy how confused he is and they make love. Afterwards, Joshua feels dirty and disgusted, and is horrified that Cathy doesn't feel ashamed too. Joshua goes to see Reverend Kathryn, who has a religious show on the station, for advice. Joshua decides to stay and talks with his father. Scott Easton has lunch with Mitch Ackerman. Val goes to see her obstetrician, but she has been called away to a conference, and there is a new doctor - Mitch Ackerman. After Val's appointment, Ackerman calls Easton and tells him that he gave Val the pills, and that it will be 2 or 3 days at the most.
Mack se voit signifier les papiers entamant la procédure pour le divorce. Karen dit qu'elle veut bien s'expliquer avec lui mais qu'elle a besoin de temps. Mack trouve que Gary Loder a été tué. Val et Gary se sentent responsables pour le divorce des Mackenzie. De son bureau, Abby et Scott Easton les regardent discuter. Le père de Joshua, le révérend Jonathan Rush arrive à Knots Landing et est déterminé à ramener son fils avec lui. Jonathan passe son temps à rabaisser et à humilier l'entourage de Joshua : Cathy pour être une ancienne taularde, Lilimae pour avoir abandonné par deux fois ses enfants et Valene pour attendre deux enfants hors mariage. Joshua dit à Cathy combien il est troublé et ils font l'amour. Peu après, il se sent sale et est horrifié que Cathy ne se sente pas elle aussi honteuse. Il va voir le révérend Kathryn qui a une émission religieuse sur la station pour qu'il le conseille. Joshua décide de rester à Knots Landing et met les choses au clair avec son père. Greg, sénateur fraîchement élu, veut que Mack et Laura fassent partis de son équipe à Washington. Mack hésite à accepter à cause de ses problèmes avec Karen et Laura dit à Greg qu'elle n'a aucunement l'attention d'y aller pour devenir une autre Jane. Scott Easton dîne avec Mitch Ackerman. Val rend visite à son obstréticienne mais celle-ci est partie faire une conférence et le nouveau docteur est cet Ackerman qui lui prescrit de prendre des pilules. Après le rendez-vous, il appelle Easton et lui dit qu'il n'y en a plus que pour deux ou trois jours au plus.
