In a country torn by bloody civil war, a young man seizes power. In his native tongue, he is called Dracula. This is not the vampire, Count Dracula, but a real historical figure: a Romanian prince. Dracula was a warlord who became known all across Europe for both his breathtaking courage and his terrifying cruelty. But he also left an enduring legacy. Not just in blood, but also in brick, mortar, and stone. He constructed palaces. He founded the city that was to become his country's capital. He also built one of Eastern Europe's most breathtaking mountaintop castles. Now, with state-of-the-art computer animation, we'll bring Dracula's lost world back to life: his birthplace in the fortified town of Sighisoara; the gothic splendor of Transylvania's Bran Castle; the sumptuous palace of Targoviste; and the real castle Dracula, Poenari.
Pour créer Dracula, le célèbre vampire, le romancier Bram Stocker s'est inspiré d'un personnage historique du XVème siècle : le prince transylvanien Vlad Tepes dit Vlad l'Empaleur ou encore Vlad Dracul. Ce seigneur de guerre, qui vivait sur les terres de l'actuelle Roumanie, fit construire de nombreux palais fortifiés comme son fameux château au sommet d'une montagne qui fait aujourd'hui la joie des touristes. Célébré de son vivant pour son courage, il était aussi connu et redouté pour sa cruauté. En effet, sa méthode d'exécution préférée était le pal (plusieurs milliers de ses ennemis furent empalés) et l'un de ses hobbies était de collectionner le nez de ses victimes (on dit qu'il en possédait 24 000)...
En un país dividido por la guerra civil, un joven se hizo con el poder. En su lengua materna, era conocido con el nombre de Drácula. No se trata del vampiro, el Conde Drácula, sino de una figura histórica real: un príncipe rumano. Drácula fue un señor de la guerra, conocido en toda Europa tanto por su impresionante valor como por su terrorífica crueldad. Sin embargo, también dejó un legado perdurable, no sólo en sangre, sino también en forma de ladrillos, morteros y piedras. Construyó palacios y fundó la ciudad que se convertiría en la capital del país. También construyó uno de los castillos más impresionantes de Europa del Este ubicado en la montaña. Ahora, gracias a la más avanzada animación por ordenador, el mundo perdido de Drácula será devuelto a la vida: su lugar de nacimiento en la ciudad fortificada de Sighisoara; el esplendor gótico del Castillo de Bran en Transilvania; el suntuoso palacio de Targoviste; y el auténtico castillo de Drácula: Poenari.
