Außerdem quält ihn eine krankhafte Eifersucht, und er möchte unbedingt wissen, was seine Frau während seiner Abwesenheit macht. Doch Henry verweigert ihm Heimaturlaub - mit fatalen Konsequenzen ...
John Hodges, a chopper pilot referred to as The Cowboy because of his gun holster belt and cowboy hat, has been hit in the shoulder, and arrives at the 4077th. He is expecting a letter--he's worried his wife Jean at home is leaving him for another man ("She's probably off with some rodeo rider; she's a sucker for a 10-gallon hat!"). He wants to go home, but Henry refuses, stating Cowboy's wound isn't serious enough to merit a stateside ticket. Bad luck then follows Henry Blake like the seat of his pants: he gets shot at while golfing, his tent gets flattened by a driverless jeep, and the latrine explodes while he's inside. The Cowboy offers to fly Henry to Seoul and then threatens to shove him out! The letter finally arives for Cowboy, assuring he is loved. Hawkeye and Trapper uses the radio to convince The Cowboy to spare Henry's life and come down, at which they succeed.

John Hodges, un piloto de helicóptero al que se hace referencia como El Vaquero debido a su cinturón con pistolera y su sombrero de vaquero, ha sido golpeado en el hombro y llega al 4077. Está esperando una carta: le preocupa que su esposa Jean en casa lo deje por otro hombre ("Probablemente se haya ido con un jinete de rodeo; ¡le encantan los sombreros de 10 galones!"). Quiere irse a casa, pero Henry se niega, afirmando que la herida de Cowboy no es lo suficientemente grave como para merecer una entrada a Estados Unidos. La mala suerte sigue a Henry Blake como el asiento de sus pantalones: le disparan mientras juega golf, su tienda es aplastada por un jeep sin conductor y la letrina explota mientras él está adentro. ¡El vaquero se ofrece a llevar a Henry a Seúl y luego amenaza con echarlo! Finalmente llega la carta para el Vaquero, asegurándole que es amado. Hawkeye y Trapper usan la radio para convencer a The Cowboy de que perdone la vida de Henry y baje, lo cual tienen éxito.
