By 1962, continuous border wars turned a former friend into foe, causing tension between the countries to this day.

Frustrated by an unequal relationship, Mao decides to stand his ground and take actions in order to reach his ambitious goal to put China on the world stage. However, by doing so, Mao risks creating a riff that might lead to an open war against the volatile Soviet Union.
