Board game enthusiast Aaron (Elisha Yaffe) runs into his annoying neighbor Brad (Jonathan Bray), who is desperate to be invited back to Aaron's weekly game night. Things get awkward.
On his way back to game night, Aaron (Elisha Yaffe) awkwardly flirts with his new neighbor Emily (ErinRose Widner), a history geek who's new to board games, and an eternal question is pondered: is it right to give a beagle the name Bagel?
Back in his apartment, Aaron's game night regulars, including his best friend Scott (Glee's Josh Sussman), are reluctant to allow Brad back into the group just so Aaron can impress a woman he just met. Will she even like board games? Aaron deploys his patented "12 Angry Gamers" routine to convince them to change their minds.
It's next Thursday. Emily (ErinRose Widner) and Brad (Jonathan Bray) discuss their game plan before heading over to Aaron's apartment for game night.
Brad's cringe-inducing theatrics in front of Aaron's (played by Elisha Yaffe) gamer friends threaten to derail Emily's (played by ErinRose Widner) chances of making a good first impression. Gamer Scott (Josh Sussman) is none too thrilled about how this game night is beginning.
To prevent any misguided expectations, Brad takes Aaron aside to let him know that Emily may be more than just his roommate. Also, Sue's close-parking dreams collapse before her eyes.
Emily gets to know some of the regulars, like quirky lovers Natalie (Natalie Palamides) and Bogdan (James Liebman). Aaron officially starts game night with a party game. And the ultimate question arises, should drafting be allowed when picking teams for Time's Up?
After Brad makes an absolute fool of himself during Time's Up, Aaron tries to lift Emily's spirits by introducing her to what could hardly be described as a gateway strategy game. Maybe he should have gone with Ticket to Ride?
Three different tables are set up for strategy games. While Emily's head swims trying to understand Ted's (Nelson Cheng) rules explanation of Lewis & Clark, Brad aims to impress Scott (Josh Sussman) and Nick (Pritesh Shah) with his fast learning skills during a game of Phuket. Also, Natalie can't open a Kingsburg baggie.
The love triangle gets more triangle-y! When Emily and Aaron start to connect, Brad gets jealous.
