The two rappers move to a mostly white neighborhood in New Jersey. With there mom, Dorothea keeping them PG-13, Method & Red change tactics – using spirit, kindness and fruit cake to ingratiate themselves with the residents of Nottingham Estates – to avoid eviction from their new home.
When a leading magazine writer visits Method & Red's mansion to observe their rapper lifestyle, the duo fear that the writer will portray them as ""soft"" when he discovers that Dorothea lives with them and Skylar has invited them to his birthday party, so Meth and Red turn Dorathea into a maid and they tell Skyler that they can't go to his party because they are sick.
In honor of Dorothea's 25th anniversary at the tollbooth, Red promises to get Chaka Khan to perform at the party. Meanwhile, Kenny Loggins' No. 1 fan, Nancy, holds all the power (literally) when the electricity goes out hours before the gathering, and it's up to Meth to swallow his pride and set things straight.
Method and Red become presidents of the neighborhood association in an attempt to save Dorothea's cherry tree, but the power quickly goes to their heads.

When fellow hip-hop artist Fear moves into a better gated community and lures Method and Red's ace TV repairman away from them, the duo challenge their rival to a neighborhood basketball game.
Fed up with constantly cleaning up after Method & Red's parties and feeling that she has no personal space of her own, Dorothea turns the tables on the duo and opens a hair salon in the game room. Meanwhile, Red panics when he realizes that an expensive diamond necklace he borrowed from a German jeweler has gone missing.
Fed up with Dorothea's constant nagging, Red decides to buy his own mansion in Nottingshire Estates, much to the chagrin of Nancy, who is trying to win "Real Estate Agent of the Year." Red quickly realizes the perks of living on his own may not compare to his former living arrangements and it's up to Tommy Chong to save the day.
