Mr. Monk and the Panic Room

Pan Monk řeší vraždu hudebního producenta. Na místě činu byl nalezen šimpanz s pistolí v ruce. Všichni si nejdřív mysleli, že zvíře skutečně zmáčklo spoušť. Adrian přijde na to, že vraždu spáchal milenec manželky zabitého hudebního producenta.

Der schwerreiche Plattenproduzent Ian Blackburn wird tot in seinem Haus aufgefunden - und das unter äußerst ungewöhnlichen Umständen. Seine Leiche liegt mit vier Einschüssen im verschlossenen Panic Room seines Hauses, einem speziellen und extrem gesicherten Schutzraum, in den man sich in Notfällen zurückziehen kann. Neben der Leiche sitzt Blackburns geliebter Schimpanse Darwin mit der Tatwaffe in der Hand. Der Fall scheint also klar zu sein: Darwin ist ein Killeraffe. Davon will Sharona aber absolut nichts wissen, da sie das zutrauliche Geschöpf schon vom ersten Moment an ins Herz geschlossen hat, weshalb sie Monk den Auftrag gibt, Darwins Unschuld zu beweisen. Monk hält allerdings nicht viel von diesem Ansinnen, da er erstens glaubt, dass der Schimpanse der Täter ist und zweitens prinzipiell ganz und gar nichts für Affen übrig hat. Doch als er bald darauf feststellt, dass sich die attraktive Sängerin Chloe, die mit Blackburn verheiratet war, äußerst verdächtig verhält und der Schimpanse Darwin offenbar eine extrem starke Abneigung gegen Männer mit Glatze hat, wird Monk stutzig. Denn der Sicherheitsexperte Kurt Wolff, der den Panic Room konstruiert hatte und überdies ein recht vertrauliches Verhältnis zu der schönen Chloe pflegt, hat rein zufällig kein Haar mehr auf dem Kopf...

In yet another case of murder in a room locked from the inside, a music producer is found dead with bullets in his back, head. and chest, clearly neither an accident nor a suicide. But this time there's a further twist: the dead man's pet chimpanzee, Darwin, is caught with the murder weapon in his hand. Not wanting to make a monkey of himself by falsely accusing a chimpanzee of murder, Stottlemeyer takes the chimp into the interrogation room, tempting the animal to fire what he thinks is an empty gun. Meanwhile, Disher realizes that he's inadvertently given the captain a loaded gun and panic ensues. When the gun goes off, endangering not only Stottlemeyer but Disher, Monk, and Sharona as well, Stottlemeyer is persuaded that the chimp is guilty and is ready to allow animal control to put him to sleep. Sharona, however, is convinced that Darwin is innocent. In desperation, Sharona resorts to breaking and entering to rescue Darwin, persuading the most unlikely person imaginable to take hi

Ian Blackburn, un producteur de disques, est retrouvé mort dans son appartement alors qu'il travaillait sur des chansons destinées à son épouse, une star de musique pop. Lorsque la police arrive sur les lieux, elle assiste à une scène pour le moins incroyable. Darwin, le chimpanzé de la victime, couvert de sang, se tient près de son maître, un revolver à la main. Stottlemeyer et Disher sont contraints de soupçonner l'animal de meurtre mais ils demandent bientôt l'aide de Monk afin qu'il mène sa propre enquête et découvre si le chimpanzé est bien l'auteur du drame...

Adrian Monk szokás szerint ismét egy furcsa, de egyértelműnek látszó ügybe ütközik. Az áldozat egy gazdag énekesnő férje és producere, a gyilkosság helyszíne egy belülről bezárt pánikszoba, a gyilkos pedig... egy majom. Monk, az állatot megkedvelő Sharona nyomására nem hajlandó belenyugodni abba, hogy egy állat a feltételezett gyilkos.
