    Police are skeptical of a woman’s story that she answered her phone and heard a lady being murdered. A reporter prints her story and she’s contacted by a young man whom she begins to date. When Muldoon learns some information that makes him believe the woman, he trails his lead to her suitor’s place of work, where he’s about to kill her after confessing to the murder she heard on the phone.

  • S01E13 And a Merry Christmas to the Force on Patrol

    An officer is stabbed in a Christmas Eve liquor store stakeout with Muldoon, and Halloran is called in to hunt for one of the robbers, who escaped. The other thief refuses to disclose their hideout until he hears that his partner, his younger brother, was wounded before escaping.

    One of the most respectable people in Halloran’s neighborhood suddenly goes berserk and starts shooting shopkeepers and their customers. Halloran remembers that the man has taken some children on a picnic to Coney Island and trails him there to beg him to surrender.

    A bootlegger operating a still on Fire Island in the dead of winter against his partners’ wishes hires a killer to protect the operation. When the killer mows down a Treasury agent, Muldoon and Halloran track down the killer and close in on the bootleggers.

    When a wealthy couple uses up their money, they make a plan with their maid: she “borrows” jewelry from their party guests, they pawn it and invest the money in quick-profit stocks, then return the jewelry before police are called in.

  • S03E01 Take Off Your Hat When a Funeral Passes

    After escaping prison by informing on his wife’s brother, who’s sent up for the robbery they committed, Paul Delito’s wife leaves him, vowing to teach their son to curse his father for snitching. The only thing sustaining Delito is the hope of winning forgiveness, and when his brother-in-law is later released and in hiding after committing murder, he seeks out the man to plead for his pardon.

    A young man, whose soul has been sickened by his grandmother’s tales of chivalry, uses an old dueling pistol to shoot a man who has been fighting with his girlfriend in Central Park. While detectives search for the unknown sniper, he wounds another man and attacks his sister’s boyfriend.

    A small boy’s governess tells Parker of severe marital discord in the home where she works, and that during the couple’s last fight, she heard gunshots.     A young man who has frequent sadistic outbursts overhears his mother and her fiance discuss plans to take him to Bellevue for observation. In a rage he attacks the man, then disappears into the street, where he tags along with a young woman who angers him by befriending an elderly lady.

    A wealthy man hires two men to filch a valuable statue from a museum, and they enlist the aid of three underworld men. After they steal it, the man dies before paying them, and they try to ransom it back to the museum.

    A middle-aged man who’s fed up with his young wife’s infidelity pushes her lover out a window in a rage. Later when two women see him with a knife, unaware that he grabbed it when breaking up a street fight, they warn his wife that he’s going to kill her, and they call the police.

    A forty-year-old nobody who wants to make himself known to the world causes a riot in the supermarket where he works by lowering prices to almost nothing. Threatening letters from cranks in the police file give Parker a lead toward identifying the man, who by now is at a fight arena threatening to detonate a huge explosive after a fight with his wife.
