厄災・ヴィダールの復活により、ホエルたちは窮地に陥るが、難を逃れる。その戦いを間近で見ていたサスケは、カクレンジャーリングを懸け、ゴジュウジャーに「妖怪No.1バトル」を挑む！「俺が一番妖怪らしいと思った奴が勝つ」と宣言するサスケを前に、ゴジュウジャーのメンバーはそれぞれが妖怪の化身になるべく、全力を尽くす。しかし、ホエルだけはオリガレッドの「お前はレッドにふさわしくない、リーダーにふさわしくない」という言葉に気をとられてしまう。サスケの言葉に、ホエルは「自分が不適格でありながら、ここまで自分を追い込んできた理由」を改めて考えることになる。
