The Rockstar approach to revealing details on an upcoming product would work for no other company. If a photocopier firm released occasional blurry shots of its upcoming photocopier at random times and with zero fanfare, people would just go and buy another photocopier. But Rockstar has Grand Theft Auto V, a game significantly more exciting than any photocopier ever built, with the exception of that one programmed to fight crime, and so each new scrap of info is met with the kind of frantic speculation and intense scrutiny usually reserved for Rihanna's holiday outfits. We really liked Far Cry 2: Cry Harder. It taught us about the African landscape, about African wildlife and that one of the symptoms of malaria is falling over. A lot. The best thing about it, though, was inching your way through the undergrowth towards an enemy encampment and introducing them all to the pointy end of a machete. Which makes it all the more strange that Ubisoft have spent most of their time teasing trippy drug sequences and nudie ladies instead of the far more exciting open world stuff. Well good news, we've played Cry Hard With A Vengeance and it's definitely still a Far Cry game. A really good one at that. The Left 4 Dead 2 DLC Cold Stream adds a new campaign to Valve's first-person zombie run-away-frommer. The finale, Cut-throat Creek, corrals you down a narrow stream in an extended gauntlet event with more spitters, tanks, chargers and hunters than you can shake a bloody chainsaw at. It's a special infected reunion party, and you're the guest of honour. On the plus side, the AI director in this DLC campaign is more predictable than in the game proper.
