Also featured is a trip down to Higgins Race Heads where Nathan shows us his new CNC machine and tells us about porting heads and his 9 second Commodore Ute.

Matt from Yella Terra talks us through the 300C Supercharger kit and gives a run down on the Whipple supercharger. Matt then takes a blown 300C out on the road to give us a feel for what its all about.

  • S01E08 The FG Episode

    HPF are back this week with an episode that will definitely appeal to the Ford fans, a feature on upgrading the brand new FG Falcon. First up we cover a custom dyno tune on an FG XR6 Turbo, then take it out on the street to see have it drives once the true power has been unleashed. Next we tackle a very different beast, an FPV Super Pursuit, powered by the 5.4l quad cam v8. To this machine we fit a full exhaust system and Yella Terra supercharger kit. See up close the difference between the factory exhaust system and the aftermarket unit, and inside the supercharger and intercooler kit. We then take it out on the road to see how it compares to the turbo 6 Falcon.

    For those Holden fans with seared eye balls from Episode 8 we have some welcomed relief with coverage of HPF at the LS1 Drag Nationals. Follow the build of Tims VY Ute as we put together a package for his car to better his 9.8 second time slip. In go the tubs and a 402 cube iron blocked motor and out it goes to the track. We’ll keep track of Tims day as well as our old friend Garry Pope driving his boosted Coupe 4, and Robs Calais for the first time at the track since the head and cam upgrade went in.

    98 Octane, Ethonal, E10; all words which we are hearing more and more both on the news and also by customers wanting the best performance out of their car. With this we have decided to answer the questions with knowledge by testing a variety of different fuels back to back on the dyno. The results are definately intersting and may change both the performance car industry and even the environment in the future. See the results of testing 91 Octane Unleaded, 98 Octane Unleaded, E10 Ethanol Blend, E85 Ethanol Blend and a 120 Octane dedicated race fuel. To give some relief from the dyno action we also head down to the Latrobe Valley Street Machine Show with a few cars.

Rob also gives viewers a rundown on how far the mechanicals of the Lolux have come including the twin turbo V6 engine and massive brakes. As a break from the Holden and Ford based episodes we cover an upgrade on a MY08 Subaru Impreza STi. See the boys fit forged pistons and an upgraded turbo to really release the potential of the all wheel drive beast.

HPF fit and tune a Motec M800 to the baby Aston to prepare the car for racing events including Targa Tasmania. We also head out to Motec themselves for information and advice on integrating the M800 into the complex Aston Martin System, and Motec founder Richard Bendell tells us about the history and future of Motec.

    This episode is arguably the highlight of this second season of Oz Garage. Rob heads down to beautiful Tasmania to support the Horsepower Factory prepared EVO 8 of Stephen Bradford in his Targa Tasmania 2010 Campaign. This is the first of two episodes that captures the stunning Tasmanian landscape as well as the action and emotion of the grueling week long event. See the ups and downs as well as plenty of in car action from some of the best roads in the country.

    Rob goes back to his horsepower hero winning past when he gets to work adding some forced induction to a pretty serious Holden V8. See how adding some boost in the way of a Yella Terra Whipple kit to an already heavily modified motor affects the power and how it drives. Have you ever wondered about the difference between a centrifugal style supercharger and a positive displacement supercharger, or how a supercharger is different to a turbocharger? Rob will show you the differences on the bench and explain how they work and the results you will get.

    The Chrysler 300C has certainly made an impact on the modified car scene world wide and Australia is no exception. HPF have been lucky enough to have modified many 300C’s for customers from mild upgrades to all out stroked and blown monsters. This time we test the performance of a standard SRT8, then perform a series of upgrades including a Vortech centrifugal supercharger, exhaust and stall converter. Rob explains each of the components then you’ll see how the modified version compares in both performance and driveability.

    Exhaust systems are one of the first modifications people make with their cars and as such there is great variation in options available and just as many opinions of which is best. With this in mind we bring you a test of several of HPF’s more popular exhaust combinations back to back on a 6.2l LS3 powered VE HSV. This is the first time Horsepower Factory have done a back to back comparison like this and the results were definitely surprising. Plus, with Rob running through the exhaust systems and the variations in components there is plenty of tech content for those with a thirst for knowledge!
