Murrays Schwester, Dr. Melba Bozinsky, hat herausgefunden, dass im Zweiten Weltkrieg vor Kaliforniens Küste ein deutsches U-Boot gesunken ist, das Goldbarren an Bord hatte. Die Suche entwickelt sich zu einer gefährlichen Angelegenheit, da es einige Rivalen gibt, die ebenfalls Wrack und Ladung bergen wollen. Doch schließlich gelingt es den dreien, den Inhalt des U-Bootes zu bergen. Dabei handelt es sich aber nicht um Gold, sondern um geheime Dokumente der Deutschen.

Quinlan) The detective trio are depressed over a lull in business, when Murray's attractive, practical joke-loving sister Melba arrives, looking for their help in proving her theory that Hitler had established a port on the U.S. west coast during World War II. She neeeds to prove the theory after her initial report was rejected by a publisher and editor. With the help of a German historian friend of Melba's, they begin their search for a German U-boat loaded with gold that was rumoured to have sunk somewhere in the area, but their party comes under attack from the publisher and editor who rejected Melba's report, who want to get their hands on the sunken gold for themselves. But unbeknown to the detectives, the pair aren't the only ones out to sabotage the quest...

Le trio de détectives est déprimé par une accalmie dans leur affaire, lorsque Melba arrive à la recherche d'une aide pour prouver sa théorie selon laquelle Hitler avait établi un port sur la côte ouest des États-Unis pendant la Seconde Guerre mondiale. Elle a besoin de prouver la théorie après que son rapport initial a été rejeté par un éditeur. Avec l'aide d'un ami historien allemand de Melba, ils commencent leur recherche d'un U-boot allemand chargé d'or qui aurait coulé quelque part dans la région, mais ils sont attaqués par l'éditeur qui a rejeté le rapport de Melba et qui veulent mettre la main sur l'or perdu au fond de l'eau. Mais à l'insu des détectives, les deux ne sont pas les seuls à saboter la quête ...
