In the region of Cairo, there is much evidence of how the floodings of the Nile had a big impact on ancient Egyptian civilisation. Of course they fertilised the Earth, but among other things they also provided water to the canals that were used for the construction of the pyramids. One of these canals has recently been found near Saqqarah, thanks to the use for the first time in Egypt of a LiDar scan.
