Im Juni 2007 startet die Mission STS-117 ins All, mit dem Ziel, die Raumstation ISS mit dem Labormodul der Zukunft auszustatten. Im Orbit angekommen, soll die Besatzung das neue Stationssegment mit dem Solarpanel auf der Steuerbordseite der Station schnellstmöglich installieren. Doch beim Anschließen des Moduls treten erhebliche Probleme auf und die gesamte Crew steht plötzlich unter Lebensgefahr. Es beginnt ein Kampf um Leben und Tod, in dem jede Sekunde entscheidend sein kann.
