Au Ministère de la Défense, le capitaine Eve Catraz dirige le Groupe d'Intervention sur les Phénomènes Psychologiques (GIPP). Au sein des services secrets du Vatican, Mgr Franck de Kern est chargé d'étudier (en les étouffant) les miracles et autres manifestations paranormales, qui nuisent gravement aux intérêts supérieurs de l'Eglise. Lorsqu'une petite fille aux pouvoirs apparemment surnaturels est enlevée, Eve et Franck sont contraints de collaborer pour la sauver.
