Es gibt nichts Schlimmeres, als die neue Freundin seines Ex kennen zu lernen und Miranda schafft es irgendwie immer wieder, Debbie aus dem Weg zu gehen. Charlotte hört derweil schon ihre Hochzeitsglocken läuten. Bei den Vorbereitungen lernt Carrie Harrys Trauzeugen Howie kennen. Das darauf folgende Abenteuer im Bett ist allerdings nicht gerade ein tolles Erlebnis.

An assignment sends Carrie to explore the newest pastime for singles in New York... swinging through the air on the flying trapeze. Try as she might, Carrie just can't allow herself to let go of the bar and allow her instructor to catch her. While relating this situation to the girls, Harry appears and introduces Carrie to his best man for the upcoming nuptials. After much coaxing, Carrie allows herself a one-nighter with her fellow member of the wedding party, but winds up wildly unsatisfied after he proves to be a less than sensitive lover. Also having relationship issues are Miranda and Samantha. Miranda finds herself hiding underneath her bed (nestled next to Fatty) when Steve drops by unexpectedly with his girlfriend Debbie. Miranda realizes that if she were to actually meet Debbie, she'd have to admit that Steve has found somebody else, and that's not something that she's overly eager to do. Un reportage pour le New-York magazine pousse Carrie à explorer le nouveau passe-temps des célibataires newyorkais : se lancer dans les airs sur un trapèze... Le mariage de Charlotte approche à grand pas mais les préparatifs ne se déroulent pas comme elle l'avait prévu... Durant la répétition du repas de la cérémonie, Carrie s'autorise un flirt avec le témoin de Harry.. Quant à Samantha, elle enjoint Smith à tous débordements sexuels lors de son tournage de deux semaines au Mexique. Et Miranda est tellement réticente à l'idée de rencontrer Debby, la petite-amie de Steeve, qu'elle adopte un comportement puéril pour l'éviter...

Il matrimonio di Charlotte è sfortunato: a Miranda si brucia il foglio del discorso, a Samantha si rompe un bracciale di perle e Charlotte rischia di cadere, il testimone di Harry insulta Carrie nel corso del pranzo. Carrie consola Charlotte, dicendo che la cerimonia del primo matrimonio è stata perfetta ma il matrimonio un disastro: quindi una cerimonia sfortunata non può che portare bene.
