The Plan

Während die übersinnlich begabte Witwe Eileen Piper für aufschlussreiche Gespräche im Hause Fisher sorgt, besucht Ruth ein Seminar der Selbstverwirklichungs-Gruppe "Der Plan", das sie völlig verändert und sturzbetrunken nach Hause zurückkehren lässt. David und Nate nehmen unterdessen an einem Lunch der unabhängigen Bestatter von Los Angeles teil, das sich als ein Treffen dreier alter Männer entpuppt. Einer davon ist Bobo, der während des gesamten Essens nicht aufhört, Kroehner zu verfluchen. Als David und Nate kurz darauf erfahren, dass Bobo an Kroehner verkauft hat, fallen sie aus allen Wolken. Brenda hat sich entschlossen, etwas Sinnvolles zu machen, zum Beispiel einen Kurs in Biogenetik. Sie regt sich jedoch schon in der ersten Stunde derart über ihre Professorin auf, dass sie die Vorlesung mittendrin verlässt.

Michael John Piper 1952 - 2001 Nate and David have their first customer for the wall-o-caskets. This mourner is unlike most, though. She can still talk to her deceased husband, and he helps her pick out the casket of his choice. Ruth goes to a ceremony for graduates of a self-improvement class and decides it's something she needs to do too. Nate and David attend a lunch for the Independent Funeral Directors where they vent about their mutual hatred for Kroehner. David and Keith continue to play racquetball together. Claire gets into a bit of trouble because of Gabe and his continuing downward spiral.

Brenda segue un corso universitario, dove però non può esprimere le sue idee. Claire prova ad aiutare Gabe, ma gli eventi prendono una piega disastrosa.

La muerte del marido de una vidente ocasiona algunas interesantes conversaciones en la funeraria de los Fisher. Convencida por Robbie, Ruth participa en "El Plan" un maratoniano seminario de autoactualización y sufre algunos cambios. Claire se enfada con Gary, su asesor del instituto, por traicionar su confianza contando lo que ella le había confesado sobre Gabe; pero después vuelve a acudir a él cuando el carácter de Gabe se hace cada vez más inestable. Ya con su título de director de funeraria, Nate acompaña a su hermano a una comida con otros directores de Los Ángeles. Brenda decide matricularse en la universidad y se va de una clase de biogenética después de discutir con la profesora.

Ett mediums man dör, vilket ger upphov till en del intressanta diskussioner på Fisher & Sons. Robbie övertygar Ruth om att anmäla sig till ”The Plan”, ett maratonseminarium om självförverkligande, vilket förändrar henne.

Um seminário deixa Ruth confusa. Claire tenta proteger Gabe. Nate começa a carreira como agente funerário.
