Known to his friends and colleagues as "Sheva", Milan soccer star Andriy Shevchenko was born in Ukraine in 1976 and was nine years old when the Chernobyl nuclear disaster occurred, just miles from where he lived with his family. Moving to the Black Sea coast with his parents, Sheva began to develop a strong interest in soccer. At the age of 14 he played for the "Dynamo Kyiv Under-14 Team" in the "Ian Rush Cup" in Wales, and came out with the top score, being presented with a pair of rush's boots. While with Dynamo Kyiv, Sheva won five league titles and two national cups between 1994 and 1999. Other accolades include one Champions League, one European Super Cup, one Italian Cup, and one Italian League Super Cup.
