Tom unterhält seit längerer Zeit ein Verhältnis zu der CIA-Agentin Christine Dale. MI5-Chef Sir Harry Pearce legt ihm nahe, diese Beziehung zu beenden. Doch Tom ignoriert diese Aufforderung. Kurz darauf erhält er von Christine den Hinweis, dass die Iraker einen bekannten amerikanischen Killer nach Großbritannien geschickt haben. Nun ermittelt Tom auf eigene Faust und gerät bald in den Verdacht, ein Verräter zu sein.

Christine hands Tom a secure communication which she has accidentally received from high up in the CIA. It says that an American assassin has come to the UK for a hit and that the CIA are going to take him out, without informing Five or any of the security services. Tom can't tell Harry what he knows so enlists Danny and Zoe to help him. However, things start to go wrong and tonight's episode is all 'Smoke and Mirrors'. Will the truth be uncovered before something goes terribly wrong? Has Tom gone bad?
Tom apprend par Christine qu'un tueur à gages vient d'arriver en Grande-Bretagne et que la CIA veut se charger seule de l'éliminer. Contrairement aux accords passés avec le MI-5, la CIA n'a averti personne, ce qui a poussé Christine à prévenir Tom. Mais ce dernier ne peut révéler ses sources sans compromettre son amie.
