Abby is still searching for Peter and returns to his school. Meanwhile Jenny and Greg meet two children, John and Lizzie who are keen to join them. They have a lead which may help in the search for Peter. Before 'the death' some individuals, who were nicknamed 'the angels' by the press, foresaw the impending catastrophe and isolated themselves. It is thought that some of the boys from the school went to find them. Jenny, Greg and the children make an abandoned house their base, whilst Abby sets off to find 'the angels'...
Dopo avere trascorso la notte in una stazione, Greg, Abby e Jenny ripartono alla ricerca di Peter, dirigendosi verso il suo collegio. Scorgendo uno scuolabus i tre amici decidono di dividersi: mentre Abby raggiunge la scuola, Greg e Jenny rimangono nei pressi del veicolo. Qui trovano due bambini, Lizzie e John, i quali rivelano che un gruppo di ragazzi della scuola è andato "dagli angeli". Raggiunta Abby nella scuola deserta, decidono di portare con loro i bambini e tentare di raggiungere una località segnata su una cartina stradale. Si tratta di un luogo nel Derbyshire, dove una comunità religiosa si era riunita prima dell'epidemia per pregare. Lungo la strada si fermano in una casa dove vive un uomo mentalmente disturbato di nome Lincoln...
