This second episode features Rosslyn Park, a club with a rich rugby heritage fighting for promotion in National League 3 South. The club, fighting for supporters and players against much bigger and more successful teams in the area, are struggling financially. They have some very experienced team members – the club’s captain previously played for local Premiership side Harlequins and their coach, Stuart Abbott, has also played against Austin. Austin’s challenge is to help the team challenge other clubs in the local area and return to some of their former glories.
This third episode features Witney Angels RFC, a women’s team who have struggled for good results this season. The club has a good team spirit with some fantastic characters, including the oldest player in the RFU who is 60 years old. But they’re struggling with a lack of funding for both training equipment and travel expenses. Austin’s challenge is to improve player commitment, create a bigger squad and develop a nasty streak to help win matches.
This episode features Birkenhead Park Junior Colts, the club where Austin first played. The club is situated in one of the country’s most deprived areas and offers opportunities to local disadvantaged kids. The team members are very keen, but lacking in basic skills and in need of more players and new kit. It’s Austin’s ultimate challenge; can he overcome the social and financial issues and lead his former club to glory?
This episode features University of Sussex RUFC who play in the South Eastern Conference League. The team gained promotion last season and have called on Austin’s help to enable them to adapt to their new league. Their current coach is absent and they’re lacking strength and size. Can Austin recruit the new players they need to improve their strength and pace?
