On the way the assistant is killed by a shot from a man, who releases Hardy and brings him to his boss, Jim Holbrook. Holbrook plans to kill his employer, the ranch owner Henry P. Murdock, and replace him with Hardy, who resembles Murdock. Through this switch, Holbrook will get control over the ranch himself. The sheriff thinks that it is Cisco who has killed his assistant.     When Dude Cottrell, gambler, and his pal, Omaha, tried to make prospector John Weaver tell them where his secret gold mine was, Weaver refused and was shot down. Keno, the prospector's dog was also shot and wounded. Subsequently, Keno went on a search for the men who had killed his master, and in town came across Dude and Omaha at a time when Weaver's niece Malinda has just arrived from the East. A cry of ""mad dog"" goes up as Keno charges Dude. Cisco prevents Dude from killing the dog, and subsequently, he and Pancho nurse Keno back to health. Dude and Omaha try to bushwack Cisco and Pancho, and when Keno trails the bushwackers to Dude's office, Cisco decides there is more in the situation than meets the eye. Keno leads Cisco and Pancho to Weaver's mine. They find the slain prospector, and in turn are trapped by Dude and Omaha.     Cisco and Pancho, enroute to visit Mama Maria, lose their way in a sandstorm and passing out, recover to find themselves in a beautiful hidden valley, saved by Nedra who, declaring that they face grave danger, insists they leave quickly. But before they can do so, Challis and Bardi make an appearance. Challis insists they remain as his guests. Cisco senses something is drastically wrong. He saves Challis' life when Rand tries to kill him, and after he and Cisco encounter a masked axe-man in their room, he substitutes for Rand when the latter is pitted against Bardi in a fist fight. Thereafter, Cisco and Pancho learn that Challis is conducting piracy on land, against wagon trains which are led into hidden valley and looted, with the men forced into peonage. Cisco and Pancho make a break, Pancho gets away and a captured Cisco is liberated by the masked axe-man who turns out to be Walker.     Tired of waiting for her wealthy father-in-law to die and leave his bankroll, Sue, a former professional hypnotist, hypnotizes her husband into a murder attempt on his father's life. This is after Lil, a traveling-show queen and also a hypnotist, who knew Sue ""when"" has, as part of her act, put Pancho through the paces. Cisco prevents Bill from killing his father and, recognizing the hypnotic symptoms, becomes suspicious of Lil. The latter, accompanied by Roark, knife-thrower and member of her show, turns up at Sue's home with a blackmailing memory, and Sue subsequently shoots and kills her. Cisco and Pancho come across the slain Lil, with Sue becoming aware that Cisco now suspects her. Sue has Roark and a couple of his wagon-men try to get Cisco and Pancho, but this fails, and thereupon Sue ""hypnotizes"" Cisco and taking his gun, aims at his head and pulls the trigger. But the gun isn't loaded and Cisco turns her over to justice.
